Golfers elbow

Pain on the inside of the elbow

Less common than tennis elbow but same advice applies. Also can be related to the neck so full assessment is advised.

Golfer's elbow, also known as medial epicondylitis, is a condition that affects the inner side of the elbow. Despite its name, it's not exclusive to golfers; it can affect anyone who repeatedly uses their wrist or clenches their fingers. The condition involves inflammation of the tendons that attach to the medial epicondyle, a bony bump on the inner side of the elbow.

Common causes include repetitive gripping, throwing, or lifting activities. Symptoms of golfer's elbow may include pain and tenderness on the inner side of the elbow, stiffness, and weakness in the affected arm.

Treatment usually involves rest, ice, and anti-inflammatory medications to reduce pain and swelling. Exercises are often recommended to strengthen the forearm muscles and improve flexibility. Acupuncture can be very effective. In more severe cases, a brace or splint may be used to reduce strain on the injured tendons.

If you suspect you have golfer's elbow or are experiencing persistent elbow pain, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan.
