Low back pain

80% of the population will have an episode back pain

One of the most common reasons for seeking help. One size does not fit all! A thorough history and examination will result in an accurate diagnosis. This in turn ensures the treatment tackles the root cause. There are many ways of easing spinal pain, hands on treatment such as joint mobilisation or manipulation , soft tissue massage, trigger point release or even acupuncture. A tailor made exercise programme can assist in the recovery and help prevent any further episodes.

Common causes of low back pain

Disc bulge/ herniation. Vary greatly fro a small protrusion to a sequestrated disc. Usually worse with bending and sitting

Facet joint degeneration. Facet joints are small synovial joints which can develop swelling or degenerative changes

Muscle trigger points / tightness. Muscles are a very common source of low back pain , modern life with lots of sitting means muscles never fully elongate and build tension.

Muscle weakness. Poor core strength can often mean overuse of back muscles and in turn lead to pain

Stress. A nervous system that is on high alert will create more muscle tension and nerve endings that are more sensitive.
